Abstract: Frequent sootblowing for boilers in Sanhe Power Plant resulted in severe heating surface abrasion. Based on the failure analysis of the heating surface and the comparison of various antiabrasion methods, the use of supersonic arc spray painting technique is suggested for abrasion and corrosion protection. The principle and the features of the technique, the selection of dope and hole sealing agent and the determination of parameters during coat design are described along with the procedures and technical requirements of spray painting. The technique was applied to the boiler wall, the secondstage reheater and the thirdstage reheater of Unit 1 in Sanhe Power Plant in February 2003, and a check in September 2003 showed the prominent protection effect of the coat on the heating surface.
